BROTHERS PLEAD INNOCENT TO DRUG, WEAPONS CHARGES



Brothers plead innocentto drug, weapons charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Colin and Sean McIlveen, arrested at what police described as a drug house, pleaded innocent at arraignment in municipal court Monday. Colin McIlveen, of Knob Court, faces two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs. Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. set bond at $10,000. Sean McIlveen, 27, of Meadowland Road, Hubbard, is charged with illegal possession of a weapon based on burglary and drug convictions. His bond was set at $75,000. Both are due back in court Monday for a preliminary hearing. The house on Knob Court was raided Friday by members of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force. Suspected drugs, seven guns, knives and martial arts weapons were seized.
ODOT lane restrictions
The Ohio Department of Transportation will impose lane restrictions today and Wednesday on roads in Austintown and Canfield while crews work on traffic signals. Restrictions will be imposed on Herbert/Shields Road at the state Route 46 intersection in Canfield, Mahoning Avenue at the state Route 11 intersection and London Drive at the state Route 46 intersection in Austintown. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers.
Vandals flood car
STRUTHERS -- A Fourth Street woman discovered at least three feet of water inside her 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. She discovered Saturday that her garden hose, which was turned on, ran from her house to the inside of her car, police said.
Equipment stolen
STRUTHERS -- Police are seeking information regarding the theft of almost $1,000 worth of rock-climbing equipment from a car over the weekend. According to the report, an Overlook Boulevard man discovered the equipment missing Sunday after neighbors found his wallet in their back yard. The man told police that he left his wallet inside the console of his 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada and that after his neighbor notified him about finding it, he immediately checked the vehicle to see if anything else was missing. The report indicates that the theft likely occurred early Saturday while the vehicle was parked inside the man's garage. The wallet was returned intact.
Scrap metal stolen
STRUTHERS -- Police are investigating the disappearance of hundreds of dollars worth of scrap metal from a Youngstown-Poland Road muffler shop. According to reports, at least two stock muffler systems for a Cadillac Escalade, valued at $400, and numerous miscellaneous mufflers, convertors, pipes, angle iron and expanded metal have been removed from the rear of the building on several occasions since June 25. In the last week, the owner has reported items missing on two occasions. The owner of the business told police he installed a chain across the drive to prevent vehicles from pulling behind the building, but items are still disappearing.
Adult store robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- A man who acted like he had a gun robbed the Adult Toy and Gift store on Market Street around 1 a.m. today and ran out with $140 from the register and $40 a customer had set on the counter to pay for an item, police said.
Man enters plea in brawl
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Brandon Brown, 20, of Florence Avenue, Youngstown, pleaded innocent Monday in municipal court here to charges stemming from a brawl early Sunday. Police charged Brown with obstruction of justice, disorderly conduct and underage drinking. He is free on a $2,500 surety bond. A pretrial was set for 1 p.m. Aug. 5. Police said Brown had been injured in a brawl before they were called to the University Club. He was told to go home, but became involved in another scuffle. Police from three other jurisdictions helped East Liverpool police.
New bus for South Range
NORTH LIMA -- The South Range Board of Education has bought a new school bus. The board, at its regular monthly meeting Monday, agreed to pay $60,000 for the 65-passenger vehicle from the Myers Equipment Co., Berlin Township. It should be ready by the 2005-06 school year, officials said.
Mosquito spraying
MINERAL RIDGE -- Mosquito spraying was taking place today in Weathersfield Township by Alexander Pest Control, Poland. The spraying would be postponed to Wednesday if it rains.
