MAHONING COUNTY Calls keep Austintown police busy

A woman said she was fondled at the corner of Kirk and South Raccoon roads.
AUSTINTOWN -- Police had their hands full over the weekend, as they received about 80 reports covering a variety of offenses.
That's about 20 more reports than police typically receive between Friday afternoon and Monday morning. Most of the reports are under investigation, including a report that a 13-year-old Norquest Boulevard teen found a bullet in the wall of a bedroom in her home. The girl's mother told police she and her daughter were moving boxes in the bedroom Sunday when the girl found a hole in the wall. She reached into the hole and pulled out a bullet, reports state. Police later identified the bullet as coming from a .45-caliber gun.
The mother told police she has no enemies and does not know who would have fired a bullet into the house.
Child abuse report
Police also are investigating a report that the 2-year-old granddaughter of a township woman has been repeatedly physically abused by her stepfather. The grandmother told police Saturday that the stepfather, who lives in Warren, had a small imitation remote control that gave the girl an electric shock when she pushed a button. The grandmother took the remote control and gave it to police.
A neighbor of the grandmother also told police he watched the stepfather slam the girl's head into a wall on July 13. The abuse occurred when the girl and stepfather were visiting the neighbor's township home, reports state. The neighbor also told police the stepfather put his knee into the girl's back and pushed her head into a corner of a porch.
Fondling reported
Also under investigation is a report that an unknown man inappropriately fondled a woman Friday night at Kirk and South Raccoon roads. The woman, of Youngstown, told police she was waiting at the corner for her boyfriend to pick her up about 10:15 p.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and fondled her. Reports state that as the woman struggled, another man who was driving in the area stopped his car and yelled. The attacker then ran off, reports state.
The woman described her attacker as black and in his 30s, and about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has a scar on the left side of his face and his left ear is pierced, reports state.
Police also made several arrests over the weekend. Those arrested included Kathleen Cola-Burk, 43, of Cannon Road, who is charged by police with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and misconduct at an emergency. Reports state that Cola-Burk's 18-year-old son was found highly intoxicated and barely breathing about 3:15 a.m. Saturday on the lawn in front of the Four Seasons apartments on New Road. Cola-Burk, whom police described as intoxicated, tried to get into an ambulance with her son but was restrained by officers at the direction of paramedics. She was arrested when she shoved an officer and cursed at police for not letting her into the ambulance, according to reports.
Also arrested over the weekend were Gregory Cordy Sr., 35, of Warner Road, Hubbard, and Elizabeth D'Amico, 40, of Baker Street, Youngstown. D'Amico is charged with theft, and Cordy is charged with complicity to commit theft. Reports state that at Cordy's direction, D'Amico snatched $70 from the hand of a trucker about 4:20 a.m. Sunday on Seventy-six Drive. The two then ran to a car and drove away, reports state. Police stopped the car a short time later and arrested Cordy and D'Amico.
