XAUSTINTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. James Abate of 5002 Westchester Blvd. were the guests of honor July 11 at a brunch at the Holiday Inn in Boardman in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
The observance was hosted by the couple's nieces and nephews and other family members.
Mr. Abate and the former Patricia La Marr were married July 17, 1954, at the St. Ann Church in the Brier Hill area of Youngstown. He served as a petty officer second class with the U.S. Navy and retired in 1987 after 40 years of employment with General Fireproofing in Youngstown. He belongs to several golf and bowling leagues.
His wife is an accounts payable associate with N.P. Management in Boardman. She belongs to St. Charles Church in Boardman.
