A wig business thatmakes house calls
McDONALD -- Locks of Hope, an in-home wig business started by Robin Ruschman, serves cancer patients or anyone with hair loss by going to their homes and measuring them for a wig. Ruschman, of 727 New York Ave., helps chose a style and color, orders the wig and then returns to style it and provide tips on wig maintenance.
Small business centeroffers skills programs
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Small Business Development Center at Youngstown State University is offering a variety of programs to help businesses maintain the necessary skills to succeed and to help new businesses get off the ground. The center is in the Youngstown Business Incubator, 241 Federal Plaza West. For reservations, call (330) 746-3350.
Here is the upcoming schedule: Monday, 9 a.m. to noon; Feb. 10, 10 a.m. to noon; Feb. 16, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.; March 1, 9 a.m. to noon; March 3, 10 a.m. to noon; March 15, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m; April 5, 9 a.m. to noon; April 7, 10 a.m. to noon; April 19, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A class also is scheduled in Ashtabula from 10 a.m. to noon March 3.
FDIC warns of falsee-mail messages
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is advising people to be wary of e-mail that has the appearance of being sent from the FDIC. The e-mail says that deposit insurance has been suspended on the recipient's bank account because of violations of the federal Patriot Act. It asks for personal information so the suspension can be lifted. The FDIC said it is not sending out any such e-mails and asks anyone who has received one to report it to alert@fdic.gov.
