Sen. Lautenberg, 80, marries for second time
NEWARK, N.J. -- U.S. Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg married Bonnie S. Englebardt Sunday at her apartment in Manhattan, his Senate office announced Monday.
"I feel terrific," the 80-year-old Lautenberg said in a phone interview Monday from his office in Newark. "If you feel as good at my age as I do, you will have lived a good, long life."
Lautenberg's first marriage ended in divorce in 1997, 10 years after he and his first wife were separated. It is also the second marriage for Englebardt, 56, a widow.
The two began seeing each other 16 years ago, after they bumped into each other at a concert following a brief initial meeting a few years earlier, Lautenberg said.
Rabbi David Lincoln of Park Avenue Synagogue performed the wedding ceremony, which included immediate family and a few close friends, the senator's office said.
He won back a Senate seat in 2002 after retiring a year earlier.
Lautenberg stepped in as the Democratic nominee barely a month before the November election, after former Sen. Robert G. Torricelli dropped out of the race amid a campaign fund-raising scandal in which he was never formally charged.
Lautenberg said it was his return to the Senate that prompted him to pop the question.
"If one is going to be traveling in Washington and New York, it's too difficult to keep saying, 'my girlfriend,' 'my nearest and dearest,' whatever."
Age was an issue in Lautenberg's Senate race against Republican Douglas Forrester, and Lautenberg publicly vowed to complete his six-year term. He has formed a 2008 campaign committee, and Monday said he could run again if he feels up to it.
"Still fighting," he said.
Charlize Theron, no sushi for you
LOS ANGELES -- Charlize Theron might have been the most glamorous-looking woman at Sunday night's Golden Globes, but that doesn't mean she always behaves in glamorous fashion.
The "Monster" star and her Irish boyfriend Stuart Townsend have been thrown out of their favorite Los Angeles sushi bar for being too greedy, reports IMDB.com. Yes, the couple were barred from the Nasawa diner for ordering too much food.
"I have been going to this restaurant for three years," Theron said. "It's kind of like a date place for me and Stuart and we're good customers. ... The food is amazing and there's no menu and you basically eat what's fresh, which is great. He threw me out because I ordered too much food."
"The funny thing is, we've been going so long that we've seen him do it to other people and it always kind of disturbed us, but it's always a funny story to tell to people," she continued.
"Now I can see everybody at the dinner table going, 'And Charlize Theron got totally kicked out.' I got kicked out in front of the entire restaurant. It has been a good year so far."
