Warning about fraud
HUBBARD -- Police are warning residents, especially the elderly, of fraud by a caller telling people they have won England's lottery game. Police Detective Robert Altier said the caller tells people they have won the lottery and asks for $400. Altier urges those called by the flim-flam artist not give out any information, hang up the phone and call police.
Applying pesticide
WARREN -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture will apply pesticide today throughout the county to control the European starling population.
The birds will die within three to 38 hours. The dead birds aren't hazardous to handle and may be picked up and disposed of in the garbage, according to USDA. The birds aren't harmful to pets if eaten.
