"He did everything you needed to do to become successful. He interned and assisted with Annie Leibovitz, probably the biggest name photography in the whole industry. He always worked with some of the best photographers. He was planning on going to New York City -- that's where the best work is done. Plus his personality, he's very outgoing. People like being around him. He's very high energy, which for what he does, he shoots a lot of celebrities and you need to have that high energy. He's kind of playful in the way that he approaches his photography. All those things together, plus he works really hard. You know some people are going to make it and some you never know. I think Josh had all those things going for him. Definitely the work ethic was important."

"I'm not surprised at Josh's success because he is super dedicated, super smart and good with people. He's also talented, inventive and people respect him. ... Striking out on his own, he did lots of great work for Alternative Press. I remember his Sonic Youth portraits, Pavement, lots of great bands. For Indiewire (independent film magazine), Josh went to the Sundance Film Festival a number of times. I love his portraits of Gary Oldman, Sissy Spacek, Michael Stipe."
