MAC/BIG TEN ROUNDUP Kent State trounces Toledo, 92-56

KENT -- Jason Edwin and Eric Haut each scored 20 points Sunday to lead Kent State to a 92-56 rout of Toledo in a matchup of Mid-American Conference division leaders.
Edwin, starting for the first time since Dec. 14, also played solid defense, helping hold Toledo's Keith Triplett to five points -- 15 below his average.
John Edwards added 15 points and Bryan Bedford scored 11 for the Golden Flashes (12-3, 6-1), who moved a game ahead of Miami atop the MAC East.
The Rockets (13-4, 7-2) shot just 30.6 percent while falling into a tie for first in the West Division with Western Michigan. The loss matched Toledo's worst of the season, a 92-56 setback at Louisville on Dec. 30.
Kent State built a 51-25 lead at halftime on the strength of 17-for-31 first-half shooting. Toledo shot 7-for-32 in the first half.
The Golden Flashes made 12-of-27 from 3-point range while the Rockets were only 5-for-20 behind the arc. Toledo committed 17 turnovers and tallied just 10 assists, while Kent State had 23 assists and 10 turnovers.
Triplett made only 2-of-12 shots for the Rockets and failed to score at least 15 points for just the second time this season. Allen Pinson led Toledo with 11 points and Justin Ingram scored 10.
Buffalo 85, N. Illinois 73
DEKALB, Ill. -- Turner Battle scored 17 points and Yassin Idbihi added 16 points and eight rebounds for Buffalo.
Buffalo (6-9, 2-5 MAC) went on a 20-4 run behind six straight points from Mario Jordan to take a 26-20 lead. Jordan finished with 10 points, and every Buffalo starter finished in double figures.
Buffalo led by as many as 14 in the second half, but Northern Illinois cut the deficit to eight on a free throw by Marcus Smallwood with 3:03 remaining.
Idbihi then hit a layup, and Battle scored consecutive baskets to seal the win for Buffalo.
Perry Smith led Northern Illinois (7-11, 2-6) with 16 points, and Smallwood added 12.
No. 23 Purdue 76,Michigan St. 70, OT
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Brandon McKnight drove the length of the floor for a layup with eight seconds to go that forced overtime, then hit a jumper that gave the Boilermakers the lead for good.
The victory moved Purdue (14-4, 4-1) into a three-way tie with Wisconsin and Indiana for first place in the Big Ten.
Kenneth Lowe led the Boilermakers with 18 points and Brett Buscher scored 17, 13 after halftime.
Paul Davis started the overtime with a dunk that gave Michigan State a 64-62 lead, but the Spartans (8-8, 3-2) missed their next eight shots and were outscored 14-6 the rest of the way.
Davis scored 18 points to lead the Spartans, who lost for the first time in four games.
