Mooney open house
YOUNGSTOWN -- Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie St., will host an open house for alumni, parents, friends and prospective students from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 1. The event concludes Mooney's Catholic Schools Week celebration and will include tours, new student registrations, student projects/demonstrations, and curriculum and financial aid information from faculty and administrators. A tuition drawing is sponsored by the school's Alumni Association. The Cardinal Mooney Home and School Association will host a spaghetti dinner in the school cafeteria from noon to 4 p.m., with takeouts available.

Malone Internet training
CANTON -- The Malone College School of Continuing Studies offers Internet Computing Core Certification Training (IC3) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays from next Saturday to March 13 in the Cattell Library on campus. The course offers instruction in computing fundamentals, key applications, the Internet, software and hardware. Fee is $259, including instructional booklets and online exams. Information sessions
ELYRIA -- Representatives from Cleveland State University, the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University will hold information sessions at Lorain County Community College's University Center, 1005 N. Abbe Road, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday; 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 18; and 4 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26. Information will be presented on bachelor's degrees in biology, computer science and engineering, psychology and public safety management, as well as master's degrees in several education areas. Financial aid information
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University celebrates the eighth annual Financial Aid Awareness Week from Monday to Thursday. Information tables will be set up across campus where staff from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will distribute financial aid forms and answer questions. The priority deadline to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid on the Internet and the institutional aid application is Feb. 15. The schedule is: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday in Kilcawley Center and Bliss Hall; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in Kilcawley Center and Williamson Hall; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in Kilcawley Center and Moser Hall and 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Maag Library; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in Kilcawley Center and DeBartolo Hall.
SCHOLARSHIPS
WKBN-TV 27 contest
YOUNGSTOWN -- The 27 First News Caring for Our Community campaign offers a $1,000 scholarship to a high school junior or senior in the five-county region. To compete, students write a public service announcement for a local charity from a list supplied to high school guidance counselors. The winning script will be aired on WKBN-TV 27 in March, and the winner and five runners-up each will appear in a commercial to be aired in April. Contest deadline is Feb. 6.
Naples foundation
NILES -- The Richard T. Naples Sr. Education Foundation Inc. offers $500 scholarships to eligible high school seniors and college students in Mahoning, Trumbull and Stark counties. Naples founded and owns several Wholesale Fireworks stores. Students can get an application from their guidance counselors. Deadline is March 31.
