DISTRICT Cards beat Hoover for first time



CANFIELD -- Emily Wollet doubled her scoring average, as the Canfield High girls basketball team defeated North Canton Hoover 57-48 Wednesday.
Wollet entered the game averaging 9.8 points per game. She scored 19 points as the Cardinals (9-4) beat the Vikings for the first time ever.
Hoover defeated Canfield by 10 points in the regular season last winter, then beat the Cardinals by four points in the district tournament.
Danielle Pavlansky added 10 points for the Cardinals, who have won four straight.
Canfield had a 42-39 edge in rebounds.
Annie Montgomery and Amber Witt each scored 12 points for the Vikings.
Poland 38, Howland 33
HOWLAND -- Steffi Graf scored 14 points and seven teammates got into the scoring act for the Bulldogs (8-3, 4-2 Metro Athletic Conference).
For the Tigers (5-6, 2-3), Carolyn Hanshaw scored 13 points and Sara Krezeczowski added 10.
Struthers 46, Alliance 40
STRUTHERS -- Senior Holly Hickenbottom scored a season-high 18 points for the Wildcats (3-9, 1-5 MAC).
Also for Struthers, Allison Ginnetti hit three 3-pointers and scored 15 points.
Jan Kehres scored 20 points for the Aviators (4-8, 0-5).
