Police are also investigating the man in another home burglary.
SHARON, Pa. -- Police have charged Robert T. Carlo, 26, of Buckeye Drive, Sharpsville, with the burglary of a home in the 200 block of Orchard Street that occurred while the resident of that home was asleep inside.
Carlo was served with a warrant just before noon Tuesday at the Mercer County Jail where he was being held on a parole detainer in another matter, police said. Police had no information on the parole matter.
The warrant charged him with burglary, theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property.
He was arraigned before District Justice James McMahon, who ordered him returned to jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Police said Carlo is accused of breaking through a basement door at the Orchard Street home around 5:30 a.m. Thursday and taking a set of keys to a car parked in the driveway. He then took the car, police said.
Items recovered
Police recovered the car in the 400 block of Walnut Street not far from where Carlo had been staying with a woman in the 400 block of Orchard Street.
Police said they also recovered items, including a checkbook and credit cards, believed to be stolen in a burglary at a Chestnut Street, Wheatland, home over the weekend.
Police said they are also looking at Carlo as a suspect in another morning burglary in the 200 block of Alderman Avenue, Sharon, one week ago in which a woman resident slept while a cellular telephone and some videotapes were stolen.
