Jr. Phantoms win
The Youngstown Junior Phantoms (Squirt Division) won for the second straight time, upending Cleveland Skate Club 4-2 at the Ice Zone Sunday.
Coming from behind by two goals, the Junior Phantoms scored four unanswered goals two from Jared Taylor and one each from Max Pikunas and Brandon Nightingale.
Riley Emery assisted on two goals, while Nick Malvasi, Alex Stone, and Justin Burk had one assist each.
Brennan Allen stopped 26 of 28 shots for the Junior Phantoms (5-6-1, 3-5-1 CSHL).

NFL considering Fitzgerald's eligibility
PITTSBURGH -- The NFL is looking into All-America wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald's eligibility for April's draft.
Fitzgerald has played just two seasons at Pittsburgh, and NFL rules require that a player's graduating class must be three years removed from high school. But Fitzgerald spent a year at a prep school before entering Pitt.

Tapia, Jaroszewski win Houston Marathon
HOUSTON -- Margarita Tapia of Mexico City won the Houston Marathon on Sunday and qualified for the Olympics after finishing in a course-record time 2 hours, 38 minutes, 36 seconds.
Marek Jaroszewski of Poland won the men's division in 2:18:51, while Kim Gillard of Boulder, Co., was second in 2:19:30. Sean Wade of Houston, who won last year, finished third in 2:22:25.
John Dowd scoffsat new Rose book
NEW YORK -- John Dowd does not think Pete Rose read the report he compiled for baseball that led to the career hit leader's permanent ban from the sport.
Dowd, the investigator who headed the probe into Rose and his gambling, made the conclusion after reading Rose's new book, "Pete Rose: My Prison Without Bars." In the book, Rose ended years of denials and confessed that he bet on Cincinnati Reds games while he was their manager.
But he also repeatedly challenges the report Dowd submitted and the accusations made by his former associates before he accepted a permanent ban in August 1989.
Lions hire Jauron
ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Former Chicago Bears coach Dick Jauron was hired as defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
Jauron was fired Dec. 29 after four losing seasons in five years with the Bears. The NFL coach of the year two seasons ago, he had a 35-46 overall record, including one playoff loss.
Kurt Schottenheimer, the defensive coordinator last season, is still part of Detroit's coaching staff.
U.S. ties Denmark
CARSON, Calif. -- Landon Donovan's penalty kick with 14 minutes remaining Sunday gave the United States a 1-1 tie against Denmark in an exhibition, the Americans' first game in six months.
The penalty kick was awarded when Per Nielsen was called for a handball in the box.
Denmark's goal also came on a penalty kick, by Thomas Roll-Larsen in the 28th minute.

* SOMERSET WEST, South Africa -- South Africa's Trevor Immelman successfully defended his South African Open title Sunday, shooting a 5-under 67 for a three-stroke victory.
Immelman, the first repeat winner since Gary Player won consecutive titles in 1976-77, finished at 12-under 276 on his home Erinvale course. Scotland's Alastair Forsyth (68) and England's Steve Webster (71) tied for second at 279.
* AUCKLAND, New Zealand -- Australia's Terry Price won the New Zealand Open, closing with an even-par 70 for a one-stroke victory over New Zealand amateur Brad Heaven.
The 43-year-old Price had a 9-under 271 total. Heaven, a senior at the University of Toledo, also shot a 70.
