BOYS ROUNDUP Lakeview clinches tie with 64-41 TAC victory

The Bulldogs can wrap up the title Friday at Brookfield.
CHAMPION -- The Lakeview High boys basketball team clinched a tie for the Trumbull Athletic Conference title Tuesday by defeating Champion, 64-41.
The Bulldogs (16-3, 12-1) lead second-place LaBrae (16-3, 11-2) by one game with one remaining. They can clinch the title outright by winning Friday at Brookfield.
Eleven players scored in a game that Lakeview led 34-18 at halftime.
Leading the Bulldogs' attack was Joey Opalka-Brown with 12 points while Mike Olesh added 10.
Champion (1-18, 0-13) was led by Mark Jackson's 10 points.
Hubbard 62, Brookfield 60
HUBBARD -- Matt Yanik made two of his five 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored 18 points to lead the Eagles.
Hubbard led by four points (18-14) after one quarter, by four at the half (32-28) and by just three points (45-42) entering the final eight minutes.
Jacoby Morris scored 12 points and Russell Hawkins had 11 for Hubbard.
For the Warriors, Sam King scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter while Chris Davis tallied 14 points.
Warren JFK 103, Bristol 60
WARREN -- It was Senior Night in the Warren JFK High School gymnasium. Playing their last home game were Colin Clemente, John DiFiore, Chris Shaker and Jimmy Kokrak.
The four seniors combined for 53 of the Eagles' points.
JFK (9-10) rushed out to a 27-8 lead and put the game out of reach, 73-42, by the end of the third quarter.
Clemente sparked the Eagles with 22 points. Marc Rossi added 21, Shaker had 13, DiFiore 10 and Kokrak eight.
The Eagles grabbed 60 rebounds. DiFiore and Kokrak each had 11 and Shaker 10. Rossi had seven assists and six steals.
Davie Whitt and Mitch King led the Panthers (8-11) with 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Poland 76, Chaney 49
POLAND -- Four players scored in double figures as the Bulldogs (16-3) routed Chaney (4-15).
Chad Fender scored 18 points while being supported by Greg Ekis (14), Dan Bertolini (11) and Jim Shurilla (11).
Also for Poland, which led 23-9 after the first quarter, Nick Henry grabbed 14 rebounds, Bertolini handed out nine assists and Ekis made four steals.
Chaney was led by Kelvin Shaw with 18 points.
McDonald 56, Lowellville 49
LOWELLVILLE -- Nick Testa scored 30 points, including 14 in the third quarter, to spark the Blue Devils (12-7, 9-5 Inter-County League).
The Rockets (4-15, 3-10) took a 15-8 lead after one quarter and rested at half with a 26-21 advantage.
Sparked by Testa, McDonald scored 19 points in the third quarter to lead 40-35 with eight minutes to play.
James Beedle also scored 13 points for McDonald.
Jack Noble collected 20 points and 10 rebounds to ignite the Rockets, and Vince Broll tacked on 14 points.
Minerva 69, United 56
HANOVERTON -- Troy Richeson scored 24 points and Wade Rittenhouse bolstered the attack with 20 points for the Lions.
Mitch Phillis hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points, Corey Manfull had 12 points and Ben Paumier tacked on 11 points and six rebounds for United (14-5).
