Thursday, February 26, 2004

SHARON, Pa. -- Police said an East Connelly Boulevard man found himself in trouble with the law twice in 20 hours.
Kevin J. Hammer, 26, was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Budd Street after a police officer stopped to check Hammer's parked car. Hammer got out of the vehicle and appeared to be drunk, police said.
He was arrested on charges of public drunkenness, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prohibited offensive weapon. Police said he had a nine-inch, double-edged dagger attached to his belt.
He was arraigned later in the day before District Justice Henry Russo, who released him on his own recognizance.
Police said they went to Hammer's home around 8 p.m. to investigate a 911 hang-up call and found him drunk again. A 21-year-old woman living with him told police he had struck and kicked her.
Hammer was arrested on charges of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they found a marijuana pipe on the kitchen table.
He was held overnight and faced another arraignment today.
