ALLIANCE -- Dan Jones, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, scored 38 points, and surpassed 1,000 for his career as Niles High upended Alliance, 71-43, in Wednesday's Metro Athletic Conference game.
Jones made a 3-pointer one minute into the fourth quarter for his 1,000th point and then sat out the rest of the game. He made six 3-point baskets.
Kevin Robertson, who had five 3-point goals, added 17 points for the Red Dragons (9-11, 6-6 MAC).
Alliance (13-7, 6-6) was led by Bylynn Hatcher with 16 points and Austin Banks with 12.
Mathews 70, Jackson-Milton 52
VIENNA -- Mathews shot 68 percent from the field (31-of-45) in an Inter-County League game.
Chris Vesey sparked the Mustangs (10-10, 8-6) with 24 points and he grabbed eight of 32 rebounds. Tyler Stanton chipped in with 19 points and three steals while Ian Paddock added 10 points. Adam Hughes had a school-record 14 assists.
Zack Nicholas led the Bluejays (9-10, 6-7) with 16 points and Tim Shaw added 11.
