A list of activities next month and beyond at Austintown Township Park.
Sept. 9-Nov. 11: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Yoga sessions by instructor Mary Kay Griffifth for beginners, intermediate and advanced students. Learn how the ancient art of stretching and meditated breathing can release stress and renew energies.The sessions will be every Thursday evening at Stacey Pavilion. A $90 pre-registration fee is needed. Class size has a maximum of 30 people. Call (330) 792-2602 for reservations.
Sept. 14-Nov. 18: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Pat Klein with Bodyworks will be back to lead the fall aerobic sessions on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Stacey Pavilion. Registration fee is $35. Payment may be made at the first session. Call (330) 792-2602 to register.
Oct. 20: 6:30-8:30 p.m. 12th annual Nature Photography Contest. Have you taken some good photos of our natural world? Why not show them off? The contest will be at the Stacey Pavilion with an artist reception. The juried winners will be on display the weeks of Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at our sponsors, Photo Place Inc. and Creative Corners Frame Gallery. The six categories are wild plants, wild animals, wild landscapes, nature in your back yard or park, digitally processed and/or enhanced photos (includes all categories), and black and white (encompassing all categories). Entry forms can be picked up at the Photo Place Inc., 480 S. Canfield-Niles Road and Creative Corners Frame Gallery, 3649 Canfield Road (Cold Creek Plaza) or by calling the park office at (330) 793-0718. Entry deadline for all categories is 5 p.m. Oct. 11.
Nov. 16: 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Mahoning County Green Team, the county's recycling division, is again sponsoring an evening of ideas for a simple, stress-free and environmentally friendly holiday season at the Stacey Pavilion. Participants will learn about "Budget Stretching Gifts from the Kitchen," and design recycled wrapping paper, cards, gift tags and other fun, earth-friendly holiday crafts. Pre-registration and pre-payment of $5 per person is required. Call (330) 792-2602.
