FOSTER STREET Witness directs police to man shot in homicide

Today's homicide is the 14th for the year, one ahead of last year.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Nine bullet casings were found near the body of 35-year-old Raoul Elliott at 12:30 a.m. today on Foster Street.
Elliott's death is the city's 14th homicide this year, one more than last year at this time.
A witness who lives nearby on West Scott Street told police she went outside after hearing three gunshots. Once outside, she heard roughly five more and saw a "long car with lights on the back" speeding away.
The witness ran to a pay phone on Belmont Avenue and called 911.
Elliott, whose address was likely in the Westlake Terrace area on the North Side, was found lying face down on Foster Street near the curb. Police said they saw blood stains on his multicolored football jersey.
Homicide detectives and crime lab officers were called to the scene. The victim's mother also showed up and was taken to headquarters downtown.
