SOCCER Mang's three goals lead Niles in opener



NILES -- Nathan Mang scored three goals and had an assist as Niles High topped LaBrae 5-1 Monday in a boys soccer game.
Justin Sheldon and Ted Slovan each scored a goal and had an assist for the Red Dragons.
Niles had 20 shots on goal, compared to six for LaBrae. Vikings goalie Daniel Dean had eight saves.
Warren JFK 10, Jefferson 0
JEFFERSON -- Kyle Schimley, Brian Cullivan and Jerid Cooper scored two goals apiece for the Eagles. Eric Gelsomino, Anthony Olive, Joe Antenucci and Brian Mulvey added one goal apiece. Jeff Jenkins had two assists.
Josh Nasca had 20 saves for Jefferson.
Columbiana 4, Lordstown 3
LORDSTOWN -- Kyle Martin scored two goals, including a penalty kick, as Columbiana came from behind. He also had two assists.
The Clippers' Andrew Stryffeler and Eric Ostrander each had assist. Deric Graft made 14 saves, including a penalty kick.
Drew Minton, Max Gibson and Nate Rech each scored a goal for the Red Devils.
Crestview 3, Mathews 1
VIENNA -- Danie Jones, Cory Leeson and Dustin Mercer, who had an assists, each scored a goal for the Rebels.
Crestview had 15 shots on goal to the Mustangs' 14.
Brett Ford scored the only goal for Mathews.
Poland 6, West Branch 0
POLAND -- Dain Malaniak had a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs. Michael Hallock, Matt McKay, Lenny Liguore, John Bezilla and P.J. Booth also scored, and Max Pearce had an assist.
Poland outshot West Branch 19-3.
Girls
AUSTINTOWN -- Jodi Bowlen scored twice in the first half as the Austintown Fitch girls tied Howland 2-2.
Dina Harris had an assist on Bowlen's first goal. Fitch had 15 shots and Howland had 19. Falcons goalkeeper Cara Calai had 15 saves.
The Tigers' goals were made by Annastacia Filippidis and Rachel Albani. Koren Phillips had an assist. Melissa Airhart had seven saves.

WARREN -- Elizabeth Yuricek scored two goals and had and assist for the Raiders.
Lafaye Lilly, Ashley Bennett and Julie Brothers each had a goal. Stephanie Cross had four saves.
Badger 8, Girard 0
KINSMAN -- Tessa Bonar scored three goals to spark the Braves. Michelle Fitch added two goals, while Hannah Miller, Shannon Sudon and Cayla Arnold each had one.
Miller had three assists. Arnold, Alivia Nuzzo and Abby Pettit had one assist apiece.
Badger had 24 shots to Girard's eight. Indians goalkeeper Ashley Esposito had 18 saves.
Warren JFK 2, Newton Falls 0
WARREN -- Katie Piacquadio scored a goal late in the first half and then scored again two minutes into the second half, both on assists from Jenn Natale.
The Eagles had 21 shots to the Tigers' five.
Jenna Gilmore had five saves for JFK.
Boardman 3, Ursuline 0
BOARDMAN -- Lauren Sirak scored once in the first half and again in the second half off an assist from Katie Stoll. Elizabeth Shobel scored the third goal.
Boardman out shot Ursuline 13-11 with Lani Vlad making nine saves for the Spartans. Ursuline's Jolanta Carkido had seven saves.
