Guest pianist to present concert at Bliss Recital Hall in September



YOUNGSTOWN -- Pianist Emily Yap Chua will be the guest artist in a performance to be presented by Dana School of Music, All Steinway School, at 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at Bliss Recital Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University.
Dr. Chua will be playing her evening concert on one of the school's newly acquired Steinway B pianos.
Her repertoire will include Mozart's "Sonata in D Major" and "Ballade, Op. 47" by Chopin. The second half of the program will feature "Danzas Afro-Cubanas" by Ernesto Lecuona and Albert Ginastera's "Sonata, Op. 22," which will be presented in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month.
In addition to her work as a soloist, Dr. Chua has performed with such well known musical organizations as the Nashville Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and also with faculty members at the Juilliard School of Music.
She is an assistant professor of music at Randolph-Macon Woman's College where she teaches piano, music theory lab, women in music, and coaches the ensemble.
