CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight

EARLHAM COLLEGE, Richmond, Ind.
Sophomore Farrah Rivello participated in the college's August Water Wilderness Program in Ontario, Canada. She is the daughter of Robert Rivello and Christine Ann Gifford Rivello of Youngstown.
Throughout the 24-day program, participants navigated and paddled through Wabikimi Provincial Park, seeing moose, caribou and the northern lights. Besides learning outdoor skills, students studied history, geology, ecology and leadership skills.
UNIVERSITY OF AKRON
The Akron Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers has presented recent graduate Deanna King, a Champion native, with the Larry Focht Student of the Year Award, bestowed annually to the outstanding UA chemical engineering senior.
King served as president of the UA chapter of AIChE and was a member of the group's car team that won first place regional and national awards. She completed an internship at DuPont Dow Elastomers in Stow and now works as a scientist at Johnson & amp; Johnson Consumer Cos. in Skillman, N.J.
She is a 1998 graduate of Champion High School and the daughter of the late Jerry and Patricia Ulam King; and the granddaughter of Marguerite Ulam and the niece of Mariann and Robert Ulam, all of Champion.
ST. FRANCIS UNIVERSITY, Loretto, Pa.
Andria D'Amato of New Middletown has been named a resident assistant for 2003-2004, to offer students help with campus services and policies, to offer academic advising, and to plan educational and social programs and serve as a role model. RAs are assigned to a specific floor or section of a campus residence hall.
D'Amato, a junior biology major, is the daughter of Adrian and Bobbie D'Amato.
