NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Union Township police are searching for the cause of a fatal crash on the U.S. Route 422 bypass in the township.
Barbara Ann Fujimagari, 61, of Andrews Trace, North Beaver Township, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, as a result of injuries in the crash, police said.
They said she was traveling north on the four-lane road about 8:40 a.m. when her vehicle went into the grassy median near the passing lane and traveled about 360 feet. It's unclear why her vehicle left the road, police said.
Her vehicle crossed over the southbound lanes and up a hillside about 440 feet before coming back onto the southbound lanes, police said. The vehicle then crashed into another car driven by Donald Kizak, 41, of Lamor Road, Hermitage. Kizak's car flipped onto its roof and Fujimagari's car spun off the road, police said.
Kizak was treated for his injuries at Sharon Regional Health System's hospital.
The Union Township Volunteer Fire Department, Neshannock Police and Pennsylvania State Police assisted with the crash.
