Seafood delivery servicebegins local operations
YOUNGSTOWN -- Better Seafood Co. launched its operation locally last week. The company offers more than 40 varieties of seafood and delivers to homes and businesses in the Mahoning Valley three days a week.
Glenn Ryerson, who also owns a Web site design firm called Web DMM, said he started the company because he was a seafood lover who had moved from the East Coast to Canfield. He recently moved to Pittsburgh.

Seminar at YSU to discussredeveloping brownfields
YOUNGSTOWN -- A free seminar on redeveloping former industrial sites called brownfields will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.
The session is targeted to bankers, commercial lenders and development professionals and is sponsored by the Mahoning River Corridor of Opportunity and the Great Lakes Environmental Finance Center, which is supported by the federal government to provide consulting on environmental issues. First Place Corp. earnings rise over previous year
WARREN -- First Place Financial Corp. earned $4.5 million, or 35 cents a share, in its first fiscal quarter, which ended Sept. 30. In the same quarter a year ago, it earned $3 million, or 23 cents a share.
The holding company for First Place Bank said earnings were up because of increased fee and interest income.
The board of directors declared a dividend Tuesday of 14 cents a share, payable Nov. 13 to shareholders of record as of Oct. 30.
