HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Vujaklya, Pastore key Beaver Local to ninth

Senior tailback Josh Pastore exceeded 1,000 yards rushing in the Beavers' 55-20 win.
LISBON -- Senior wingback Matt Vujaklya scored three times while senior tailback Josh Pastore and Jake Robinson each scored twice Friday as the Beaver Local high football team pounded Eastlake North, 55-20.
With 140 yards rushing, Pastore went over 1,000 for the season. He now has 1,075.
Pastore has run for at least 100 yards in each of the nine games for the 9-0 Beavers, who are averaging 44 points per game, are the number six team in this week's Associated Press poll of Division III teams and the number three team in this week's Region 11 computer playoff ratings.
Most on the ground
Of Beaver Local's 380 yards, 348 came on the ground. Pastore gained his on 13 carries, senior fullback Adam Hoppel had 82 yards on six carries and Vujaklya picked up 70 on three carries.
Jeff Dalrymple kicked seven extra points.
Junior quarterback Steve Mercer threw 32 yards to Robinson for a touchdown and Mercer returned an interception 66 yards for another TD for Beaver Local.
Eastlake North (5-4) totaled 258 yards.
Beaver Local concludes its regular season at home against Edison Local.
Salem 10, Niles 7
SALEM -- With 1:07 remaining in the game, Brian Schwartz kicked a 45-yard field goal for the Quakers (4-5, 2-3).
The long field goal by Schwartz tied the Salem record set by Lantz Bricker in 1998.
Jared Sears rushed for an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter for Niles (2-7, 0-5).
Zac Grey of Salem returned a punt 25 yards for a score, tying the game at 7 at the half.
Lance Buckley ran 19 times for 115 yards for Salem.
For Niles, Bryan Butto ran 10 times for 69 yards and Sears had 18 carries for 67 yards.
West Branch 30, Minerva 14
BELOIT -- J.R. Gibson rushed 118 yards on 19 carries, which included TD runs of 23 and 4 yards for the Warriors (5-4, 3-3 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Bobby Swallow of the Warriors hit on 11 of 17 passes for 122 yards, which included TD strikes to Josh Venables for 31 yards and 4 yards to Eric Balputnis.
Dan Husted scored on a 51-yard run and Jeb Ford on a 7-yard run for the Lions (6-3, 4-2).
Southeast 38, Crestwood 18
RAVENNA -- The Pirates are 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the Portage County League.
Crestwood fell to 3-6, 2-5.
