Reading instructor will retire Nov. 1

Sunday, October 19, 2003

GREENFORD -- South Range Board of Education has accepted the resignation of reading instructor Jayne Teewax.
The Chapter I reading teacher and former special education instructor is retiring effective Nov. 1.
The school board accepted her resignation at its regular monthly meeting Monday at the middle school in Greenford. She has been with the school district nearly 30 years.
"This acceptance is with great regret," schools Superintendent Jim Hall said. "She will be missed greatly."
Meanwhile, the board hired Faye Reed and Kathryn Hidell as long-term substitute teachers. Their salaries and positions are to be determined by the school district.
The board also adopted a resolution prohibiting hunting on school district property. Hall said it has never been an issue in the district, but recently some area residents have asked whether hunting is permitted on the grounds, many of which are wooded.
"We've never had a problem with this, but people have asked about it, so the board made the move as a precaution," Hall said.
"Some of our ground is wooded or near wooded areas but also very close to inhabited areas. The board just wanted to ensure everyone's safety and make it all official. & quot;
