NOISE CONTROL

Sharon City Council has enacted a noise control ordinance with some sweeping regulations to control noise that might disturb people, both in residential and public places. Some of the regulations include:
Nonemergency signaling such as bells, chimes, sirens or whistles can't be sounded for more than 10 consecutive seconds in any one-hour period. Houses of worship and ice cream trucks are exempted.
Emergency signal testing permitted only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and no more than once a week.
Radios, televisions, boom boxes and similar devices plainly audible more than 50 feet from the source are illegal.
Loudspeakers, amplifiers and public address systems can't be used between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. weekdays (10 p.m. and 10 a.m. on weekends and holidays). Events securing a city noise permit are exempted.
Building repair and street excavation: Generally allowed only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. except in cases of emergency.
