HERMITAGE Pack of alleged pot leads to drug charges

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- A Sharon man was jailed on drug charges after a drug-sniffing dog at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport hit on a package being sent to him.
Police said the package contained about five pounds of suspected marijuana with a street value of $7,000.
Michael R. Bruner, 27, of Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, was picked up in a parking lot on North Hermitage Road around 6 p.m. Tuesday when he picked up the package, police said.
He was arraigned Wednesday by District Justice Henry Russo on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police said the Fedex package was destined for Bruner's business, Standard Screen Printing on Robertson Road.
City police and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration's Task Force Airport Interdiction Team interrupted the delivery and made a call to the business, asking Bruner to pick up the package in a North Hermitage Road parking lot. He agreed.
The regular Fedex driver was replaced by a DEA agent and Bruner was arrested when he took possession of the package.
Police said they secured search warrants for his car and apartment and found suspected drug paraphernalia they said was related to the sale of marijuana.
Bruner is in Mercer County Jail on $25,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing at a later date.
