Division Expressway
YOUNGSTOWN -- All eastbound lanes of state Route 711, the Division Street Expressway, between Interstate 680 and U.S. Route 422, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, are closed indefinitely. The stretch of highway was shutdown Thursday after structural problems were discovered on one of the bridges.
After a detailed inspection, the Ohio Department of Transportation will determine what repairs are needed and when the bridge will reopen. Detour signs will be posted.
Best Buy e-mail scam
Best Buy is the latest business to have its name used in a wide-ranging e-mail scam. An e-mail supposedly from Best Buy stating, "Recently we have received an order made by using your personal credit card information" is making the rounds. If you follow instructions in the e-mail, it eventually takes you to a page that looks like a purchase order, where you're to enter your information.
That's where the scam takes place. If a person enters credit card information, the thieves on the other end raid the bank accounts.
Best Buy has a recording on its customer service hotline, warning people not to give out information and stating that an investigation of the scam is ongoing. The recording also instructs anyone who has given out bank card information to contact their bank immediately.
U.S. Route 224 reopens
BERLIN CENTER -- U.S. Route 224 between state Route 534 and Bedell Road has reopened. The stretch of road was closed as part of a $127,000 state project that includes repairing a bridge over a branch of the Turkey Broth Creek east of the Berlin Reservoir. Lane restrictions near the bridge remain in effect while other work continues. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the fall.
