PERFORMING ARTS SHOW
More than 100 area pupils participated in a spring Performing Arts Show sponsored by Mohawk Area Lions Club at Mohawk Area High School in Bessemer, Pa.
Six- to 10-year olds (first- through sixth-place winners and their dance schools): Faith Cortez, Barbs; Wild Kingdom, GiGi's; Lindsey Lisko, Barbs; School Daze, Barbs; Tiah Meneice, Barbs; and Shake Your Groove Thing, Barbs.
Eleven- to 14-year-olds: Andrea Shoffstall, Poland Middle; Jordan DePaul, Poland Middle; Faith Cortez and Luke Watterson, Barbs; Boogie Woogie Choo Choo, GiGi's; Christian Bruggeman, Butler Junior High; Bradley Windhorst, Perry Elementary; and Courtney Landgraff and Kelly Grove, Poland Middle.
MATH CONTEST
The Eastern Ohio Council Teachers of Mathematics held a fifth- and sixth-grade math contest at Austintown Fitch High School, where 150 pupils from Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties competed.
Geometry -- Fifth grade: Karen Krumpak, Poland, first place; Michael McMasters, Boardman Center, second place; Mark Pagano, Canfield, third place. Sixth grade: Angela Burnett, Boardman Glenwood, first; Tony Masaro, Canfield, second; David Joseph, Holy Family, third.
Numbers -- Fifth grade: Mario Leone, Boardman Glenwood, first; David Gabrieli, Canfield, second; Cameron Clarke, South Range, third. Sixth grade: Manisha Mehta, Howland, first; Matt O'Neill, Canfield, second; Alex Lipinsky, Poland, third.
