Hot site from Yahoo
Music-loving Internet surfers now have the chance to design their own radio station on the Web.
After registering for free on Yahoo's LAUNCHcast Web site (http://launch.yahoo.com), members choose the types of music they enjoy. LAUNCH then creates a personalized radio station for that user. As members listen to more music and rate their selections, LAUNCHcast saves their ratings with their profiles, and future music selection is adjusted accordingly. Members cannot download songs or videos, but they can visit the site to listen to music or see music videos anytime they want.
Users also can peruse other visitors' preferences to catch the good music they might have missed, track down song lyrics and submit personal music videos for review -- which may result in their talents being showcased online.
Paid advertisements are interspersed between songs like a traditional radio station, which allows Yahoo to offer LAUNCH for free. Commercial-free service is available on LAUNCHcast Plus for $2.99-$3.99 a month.
LAUNCHcast lets users listen to their favorite music without taking up hard-drive space or stealing music -- benefits that consumers and music companies can both appreciate.
