49ers' Jeff Garcia injures back, may not be set for start of camp

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- San Francisco quarterback Jeff Garcia might not be ready for the start of training camp this week after injuring his back during an off-season workout.
Garcia, a three-time Pro Bowl selection who has started 53 consecutive games, has a protruding disc in his back, according to coach Dennis Erickson.
Garcia could miss a few of the 49ers' first practices, which start Friday.
"It's not going to be season-ending by any means, but we will just have to take it slower right now," Erickson said.
All-Pro receiver Terrell Owens skipped the 49ers' final three mini-camps, but Erickson expects him to report to camp on time this week.
The 49ers have moved their camp from Stockton back to their team headquarters in the Bay area.
