COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Fast facts on recruiting
Major universities mail about 5,000 to 8,000 questionnaires each year to high school football players, but NCAA rules allow each school just 20-25 scholarships per year.
Of the 265,000 high school seniors who play football each fall, only one percent will receive a scholarship from a major university.
Of the remaining players, about two percent will receive scholarships -- most often partial -- from Division I and II schools.
