PENNSYLVANIA Piccirillo's goal gives Mohawk win in 3 OTs

Shenango wrapped up a playoff berth with a 12-point win over Laurel.
BESSEMER, Pa. -- Bryan Piccirillo scored on a pass from Chris Kwolek at the buzzer of the third overtime, as the Mohawk High boys basketball team defeated Riverside 70-68 in a Section 2-AA thriller Tuesday.
Riverside's J.D. Lowry had tied the score 68-68 with five seconds remaining in the third extra period before Piccirillo's heroics.
Shawn Carr, who had 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, sent the game to a third overtime when he made a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Mohawk (9-12, 4-6) made 22-for-23 free throws, including 8-for-8 in the three overtimes.
Kwolek scored a game-high 29 points for Mohawk, while Allen Deep and Lowry led Riverside with 19 points apiece.
Shenango 54, Laurel 47
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Dan Aven scored 25 points as Shenango wrapped up a playoff berth with a win over Laurel in a Section 2-AA game.
The Wildcats (14-9, 5-5) led 23-20 at the break, but the Spartans rallied to tie the matter at 34 with eight minutes to play.
Aven, a 6-foot-1 guard, scored nine points in the fourth quarter and added five 3-pointers and seven rebounds.
Terry Grossetti also had 10 points, five rebounds and five blocked shots for Shenango.
For Laurel, Bobby Turner scored 18 points and Brandon Dando had 16 more.
