GIRLS BASKETBALL Warren Harding drops Buchtel

Boardman cruised past Berea, while Liberty rallied to beat Fitch.
WARREN -- Desirae Jenkins scored 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds Tuesday as the Warren Harding High girls basketball team captured a 66-62 overtime decision over Akron Buchtel.
LaBrea Crawford scored 11 points and had 18 rebounds for the Raiders (4-2).
Boardman 69, Berea 19
BEREA -- The Spartans made 29 baskets, while Berea had just three.
Senior Amber Bland scored 32 points and Brittany Durkin added 10 for the Spartans (7-0).
Berea (4-4) fell behind 17-4 after eight minutes and trailed 33-8 at the break.
Liberty 48, Fitch 41
AUSTINTOWN -- Brittny Humphrey collected 12 points and eight rebounds, while Lena Esmail added 11 points.
Fitch (2-5) jumped ahead 20-18 at intermission, but the Leopards (6-2) ended the game on a 30-21 run.
Salem 50, Hickory 20
SALEM -- Alyson Cotter scored 13 points for the Quakers (6-1), who opened the game on a 10-0 run and were in front 24-4 in the second quarter.
Eight players scored for the Quakers, while just three players scored for the Hornets (10-1).
Southeast 50, Newton Falls 46
NEWTON FALLS -- Olivia Weber, Hannah Harner and Rebecca Lewis scored 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Pirates (2-5).
Lindsey Calland scored eight of her 13 points in the first quarter when the Tigers (1-6) took a 17-9 lead.
Newton Falls made five of its eight 3-pointers in the initial eight minutes.
Hubbard 43, Warren JFK 35
HUBBARD -- Lynle Cornell tossed in 18 points, including four 3-point goals, as Hubbard defeated Warren JFK.
Cornell was the only Eagle in double figures as Hubbard (4-2) made six more free throws than JFK.
JFK (4-3) was led by Renee Black with 10 points.
Brookfield Tournament
BROOKFIELD -- Natalie Kennell scored 20 points to lead Reynolds to a 59-48 victory over Howland and the championship in the Brookfield Holiday Tournament.
In the consolation game, Farrell defeated Brookfield 57-52.
Reynolds, which jumped out to a 21-12 first-quarter lead against Howland, also got 13 points from Marti Shellenbarger and 11 more from Shaina Smith. Howland was led by Carolyn Hanshaw with 23 points, while Sara Krezeczowski added 10.
Amber Chambers led four Farrell players in double figures with 20 points, while Ja'Kendra Langford added 13. Brookfield was led by Sheila Drummond with 16 points and Kaitlyn Nasci added 14.
