MERCER COUNTY Lazor takes her oath of office early

She is the second commissioner to be elected to four consecutive terms.
MERCER, Pa. -- Her term of office doesn't officially begin until Monday, but Mercer County Commissioner Olivia Lazor has already taken her oath of office.
Other county officials will be sworn in Monday, but Lazor took her oath Monday so members of her family who live out of town could attend.
Mercer County President Judge Francis J. Fornelli administered the oath while Judges Michael Wherry and Thomas Dobson looked on.
Lazor is only the third commissioner in Mercer County's history to be elected to a fourth term in office and only the second to have four consecutive terms.
William Reznor was the only other one with four consecutive terms in the 1980s and early 1990s. Lawrence Wilhelm had four terms in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, but only three were consecutive.
Lazor said she feels privileged to have been chosen by the voters to represent them for four terms.
Her husband, Edward, had always attended her swearing-in ceremonies in the past, but he died recently. Her son and daughter and their families were in town for the holidays and asked if the oath could be administered early so they could attend and Fornelli obliged, Lazor said.
The other newly elected commissioners, Brian Beader and Michele Brooks, as well as other row officers will take their oaths at 1:30 p.m. Monday and newly elected judges Christopher St. John and John Reed will take their oaths at 9 a.m.
