YOUNGSTOWN -- First Night Youngstown is still looking for volunteers to help with the family-friendly New Year's Eve celebration in the city's downtown. Those interested in volunteering are asked to attend an orientation at 6 p.m. Monday at First Night headquarters on the ground floor of the Realty Building on Federal Plaza East.
Volunteers are needed for 21/2-hour shifts to sell buttons and souvenirs, check admission buttons, usher, help at performance sites and help with setting up and tearing down. All volunteers will receive a free admission button. For more information, call (330) 742-0445.
Search for hunter
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The search for a missing raccoon hunter was expected to resume this morning with firefighters, police and special tracking dogs. David Woods, 52, of New Castle, disappeared Monday night after his canoe tipped over on the Shenango River around 10 p.m.
His son-in-law Anthony Mike was able to get out of the river and flag down cars on Pa. Route 60 for help.
Neshannock police said they were expecting firefighters from Neshannock, Pulaski, Union, Mahoning and Crescent Fire Department in Beaver County as well as a Zodiac boat and divers and Canine Aided Emergency Search and Rescue dogs.
