Designer's moody makeup will banish the blues
NEW YORK (AP) -- Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg is in the beauty and fragrance business, and the mood-inspired collection is nothing if not dramatic.
Drama? You'd expect nothing less from the daughter of a Holocaust survivor who grew up to marry a German prince, then became a top fashion designer and a resilient businesswoman.
"Beauty products are the secrets between women and their mirrors. Having gone back into their closets, I am eager to get back on their vanity tables," says von Furstenberg, who is best-known as the designer of the 1970s wrap dress, which enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in the late 1990s.
The cosmetics are arranged by moods instead of skin tones:
UFollow Me Pinks are for flirtatious, girly moods.
UStop Traffic Reds impart a feeling of power.
USun Goddess Golds are meant for seductive moods.
UNew Wave Neutrals create a fresh, modern look.
Von Furstenberg's signature fragrance, D, is a mix of Mandarin flower, violet leaves, lychee, jasmine absolute, ylang ylang and Lily of the Valley, with notes of cedar, patchouli and sandalwood.
