Magazine provides roundup of best hair and skin care tips

NEW YORK (AP) -- Magazines preach the same old beauty information all year round, which can be summed up roughly as: moisturize, exfoliate, apply sunblock and moisturize some more. But there's usually a nugget of new information even in the most pedestrian beauty article, and Cosmopolitan has distilled these in an annual roundup of the best, specific beauty tips.
Cosmo's favorite insider secrets from hair and makeup experts include:
UBe a bronze goddess. To brighten up pale winter skin, start by applying a gel or cream bronzer all over your face and neck. Then brush a powder bronzer over cheeks, forehead and chin and dab a sheer colored gloss on your lips.
UCreate "candlelit" eyelids. Take a small eye shadow brush and dab shimmery pink shadow in the center of your upper lids, the roundest part of your eyelid. Use this technique alone or over another shadow to create an illuminated look.
UConquer a cowlick. Saturate the cowlick with styling spray, then blow dry hair while using a paddle brush in alternating directions. Brush to the left a few times, to the right a few times and so on until hair is dry.
UFatten up your lashes. After applying eye shadow and liner, dust powder over the eyelids before adding mascara. The powder sets the shadow and liner, and adds a layer of thickness on lashes.
