NBA Sacramento Kings tie L.A. Lakers for best record

Based on the standings, the Los Angeles Lakers cannot claim to be the NBA's best team anymore.
They must share that distinction with their rivals, the Sacramento Kings.
Both teams were 20-6 at the conclusion of play Tuesday night after Sacramento defeated Memphis 114-97 and the Lakers lost at Golden State 107-98.
The Kings and Lakers won't play each other until Jan. 16, which gives one of them three more weeks to establish a foothold on first place. Los Angeles has been there all season, but Sacramento has finally caught up.
Stojakovic nets 41
The victory that gave the Kings a share of first place in the Pacific Division -- and the NBA -- came as Peja Stojakovic scored a career-high 41 points.
Brad Miller had his fifth straight double-double with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
Sacramento has won four straight, and 16 of its last 18.
Miller scored 17 of his points in the first half as the Kings (20-6) rebounded from the first-quarter deficit to pull with two, 54-52, at the half.
Stojakovic added 15 of his points in the first 24 minutes for Sacramento, which has won four straight and 16 of its last 18.
Pau Gasol lead Memphis with 23 points while James Posey added 18.
Biggest crowd
Clifford Robinson scored a season-high 24 points, and Erick Dampier had 17 points and 11 rebounds while out-muscling Shaquille O'Neal in Golden State's victory in front of the biggest crowd in the Oakland Coliseum Arena's history.
"We were a flat team today," Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. "We got it under 10, then flattened out. I have to question the conditioning of the players. ... We can't put this on Karl [Malone, out with a knee injury]. If he were here, he'd put some fight in this team."
Speedy Claxton had 19 points for the Warriors, who built a 21-point lead in the third quarter.
Los Angeles got within eight on Kobe Bryant's 3-pointer with 1:48 left, but Robinson made an off-balance jumper as the shot clock ran down to seal the Warriors' third home win over the Lakers in five games.
O'Neal had 21 points but just five rebounds for the Lakers, who have lost three of five following a 10-game winning streak. Sacramento's 114-97 victory over Memphis allowed the Kings to pull even with the Lakers atop the Pacific Division and the overall NBA standings at 20-6.
