YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Bar Association is preparing to hold its annual People's Law School.
The 10-week course will cover a wide range of legal issues, and is open to anyone who wishes to participate.
"Last year we had more than 50 people participate. It was the most we've ever had," said Atty. Lynn Maro, who coordinates the program with Atty. Ted Macejko Jr.
Local attorneys will speak on a variety of legal topics, including consumer issues, divorce, criminal law, wills and estates, real estate and constitutional law.
Objective
The course is designed to give an explanation of the law and the operation of the court system in layman's terms. Maro said it's also intended to answer questions that the public has about the legal system.
A textbook is provided and a certificate of completion is presented to all who finish the course.
Classes will begin Jan. 27 and be held from 7-9 p.m. every Tuesday through March 30, all at Boardman High School. There is a $25 fee to participate, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.
