ATLANTA -- Fourth-ranked Georgia Tech will have nearly a week to ponder its place in school history.
On Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets matched their best start with their 11th straight victory to open the season, routing outmanned Marist 90-40.
"Yes, it's exciting, knowing we're about to make history," said B.J. Elder, Tech's leading scorer this season. "Everybody wants to go down in the history books."
This year's team matched the start of the 1962-63 team, and can set the mark on Dec. 29 when they play host to Virginia Commonwealth.
Isma'il Muhammad led the Yellow Jackets with 16 points. Elder and Luke Schenscher each added 13 points and all 12 players scored for Georgia Tech (11-0).
No. 2 Kentucky 101,Eastern Kentucky 72
At Lexington, Ky., Gerald Fitch scored 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting, and Erik Daniels had 15 points, seven rebounds and a career-high eight assists for Kentucky.
Cliff Hawkins had 16 points and Kelenna Azubuike added 13 for Kentucky (7-0), which has won 27 consecutive regular-season games since an 81-63 loss to Louisville last Dec. 28.
Michael Haney scored 15 points to lead the overmatched Colonels (3-5).
No. 21 Illinois 71,No. 11 Missouri 70
At St. Louis, Illinois blew a 21-point lead before rallying to regain the edge on James Augustine's layup with 58 seconds to play.
Dee Brown led Illinois (7-2) with 18 points and six assists. Augustine had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Travon Bryant had a career-high 19 points, as did Rickey Paulding, for Missouri (4-2).
No. 14 Cincinnati 82,No. 23 Dayton 53
At Cincinnati, Jason Maxiell scored 19 points, and the undefeated Bearcats forced 28 turnovers while handing Dayton its first loss.
Cincinnati (7-0) forced 17 turnovers in the first half. The Flyers (9-1) came in with their best season-opening streak since 1955-56 but left with their 15th straight loss on Cincinnati's home court. Sean Finn led Dayton with 15 points.
No. 20 Louisville 107, VMI 56
At Louisville, Ky., Taquan Dean scored a career-high 31 on a record-breaking flurry of 3-pointers against turnover-plagued VMI.
He hit nine 3-pointers for Louisville (6-1), which scored 31 off 19 first-half turnovers by VMI (2-7). Luke Whitehead had 15 points, matched his career high with 15 rebounds and Nate Daniels added a career-high 17 points.
No. 24 Maryland 85,UNC-Greensboro 58
At College Park, Md., Nik Caner-Medley scored 19 points, and freshman Ekene Ibekwe had a career-high 13 for the Terrapins (7-2).
Maryland improved to 100-2 at home against non-conference opponents under coach Gary Williams. Ronnie Burrell and Jay Joseph had 16 points apiece for UNC-Greensboro (4-6).
