YOUNGSTOWN -- In an effort to continue the Beacon of Hope Campaign that promotes stories about Youngstown City Schools graduates, the board of education is conducting five-minute interviews beginning at 10 a.m. Friday at the Irene L. Ward Building, 20 W. Wood St.
The campaign features city schools' success stories on billboards. School officials are asking graduates who are in town during the holidays to drop in.
Families are welcome. No appointment is necessary.

Band to head to Florida
BOARDMAN -- Members of the Boardman High School Marching Band leave Saturday for Florida to participate in the 2003 Progress Energy Citrus Parade in Orlando, traditionally known as the Citrus Bowl Parade.
The parade will be broadcast locally on WYTV Channel 33 at 9 a.m. Jan. 1.
The band also has been selected to march in the Main Street USA Parade in Disney's Magic Kingdom on Monday. The BHS Jazz Ensemble 1 also will perform on a stage that rises up from underground at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Caf & eacute; in the Magic Kingdom.
