HUBBARD -- Mayor-elect Arthur U. Magee has announced his two top administrators who will assume the posts when he takes office the first of the year.
William Jugenheimer, founder and retired chief executive officer of Jugenheimer Industrial Supply Inc. of Hubbard, will serve as safety director.
Al Patrick, former service director under former Mayor Al Sauline and Mayor George Praznik, has been reappointed to his former job.
Both are part-time positions. Jugenheimer, who will be responsible for police and fire protection, will be paid $12,000 annually. Patrick, who will oversee streets and sanitary, electric and water utilities, $16,800.
Jugenheimer will replace Robert Paterniti, and Patrick will take over for William Colletta.
Magee said Monday he is selecting the two because of his emphasis on service during his administration.
Business backgrounds
Jugenheimer, 75, of Elmwood Drive, was tapped because he has been successful in business and is well organized, Magee said.
"He's a fair man. He wants to serve the community and give something back to it," Magee said.
Patrick, 78, of Belle Vista Drive, was picked because of his organizational abilities and efficiency, Magee noted.
Jugenheimer and his wife, Alice, have three sons -- Larry, Richard and Glen -- who are involved in running the family business that he started in 1976. He has a background in the building industry and hardware sales.
Jugenheimer, who served on the city planning commission in the 1980s, said he has been busy and hasn't been able to repay the community.
"I feel obligated to Hubbard," he said, noting his inexperience in politics and city operations will work to his benefit.
Patrick worked in sales for 41 years, retiring in 1990. He and his wife, Sophie, have two children, Al Jr. and Joyce.
Patrick said his emphasis will be on service to the public.
"You have to keep the people happy. You have to give them their money's worth," Patrick said.
Magee characterized Patrick as a "people person."
