TELEVISION Q & amp;A

Q. On a recent episode of "Ed," there was a fantastic song that played during the scene in which Ed proposed to Carol. Can you tell me who sings it, and is it available on CD? -- E.M., via e-mail
A. That was the Old '97s singing "Question" (from the band's "Satellite Rides" CD) while Ed presented Carol with her 25 favorite things. "Ed" fans will want to make note that the show is moving to Fridays starting Jan. 16 to make room for "The Apprentice," the new Mark Burnett-produced reality show featuring Donald Trump.
Q. While watching "Undercover Christmas," I was surprised to notice that actor Shawn Christian looks a lot like Esai Morales from "NYPD Blue." Are they related? Will we see more of Shawn Christian? -- J.H., Henderson, Nev.
A. Other than their good looks, there's no connection between the two actors. Christian, a frequent guest star on series TV ("Becker," "CSI," "Birds of Prey," "Friends," "Beverly Hills, 90210"), got great exposure as a leading man in the CBS holiday movie "Undercover Christmas," playing an uptight FBI agent to Jami Gertz's free-spirited cocktail waitress. "Undercover Christmas" ranked in the Nielsen top five for the week. We may be seeing more of Christian next year. He's been cast in a WB pilot called "Summerland," starring Lori Laughlin of "Full House." The series wasn't picked up for midseason but may air in the summer of 2004.
Q. Ricki Lake used to guest-star on "The King of Queens" as Doug's sister, Stephanie. What happened to her? She favored him and the chemistry was great. As a matter of fact, what happened to Doug's friend, Richie, and Carrie's sister? They disappeared also. -- D.L.P., Newport News, Va.
A. "King of Queens" has had a lot of guest stars and recurring characters in its six seasons on the air. Carrie's sister, played by Lisa Rieffel, and Richie, played by Larry Romano, were written out within the first three seasons. Ricki Lake was a hit during her stint as Stephanie, but she wasn't interested in a continuing a supporting role at that time. Now that the TV talk show she's hosted since 1993 might be winding down next year, Lake is exploring her own sitcom possibilities for the fall of 2004. Meanwhile, you can enjoy these characters in the early episodes of "King of Queens," which play weekdays in syndication.
