WARREN -- First Place Financial Corp. said it has completed $30 million in financing as part of its deal to acquire Franklin Bancorp in Michigan. Proceeds from the financing will be used to fund the cash part of the deal, which was announced last month.

F.N.B. acquires approvalsto spin off operations
NAPLES, Fla. -- F.N.B. Corp. said it has received all necessary regulatory approvals for the spinoff of its Florida operations into a separate company. The spinoff of the new company, to be called First National Bankshares of Florida, will be Jan. 1. F.N.B. will retain ownership of its Pennsylvania and Ohio operations and move its headquarters from Naples to Hermitage, Pa.
Union: Delphi plansto lay off 165 workers
KETTERING, Ohio -- Delphi Corp. plans to lay off 165 hourly workers at its Kettering suspension parts plant next month, according to the union that represents the affected workers.
Troy, Mich.-based Delphi, the world's largest auto-parts supplier, will cut the jobs Jan. 5, said Dave Heizer, chairman of Local 755 of the International Union of Electronic Workers-Communications Workers of America.
Heizer said Delphi will call back 40 to 80 of the laid-off workers in six to eight weeks. The rest of the cuts are permanent, he said.
Delphi employs about 1,435 at the Kettering plant.
