PREP ROUNDUP Ursuline wins fifth straight

Courtney Davidson and Tyra Grant led the Irish past Massillon Jackson.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline High School senior guard Courtney Davidson found the perfect opportunity to prove why she's considered one of the best players in Ohio Saturday.
Davidson hit three consecutive 3-pointers in the second quarter and collected 17 points and 10 assists overall as the Irish defeated Massillon Jackson 61-46 in a battle of undefeated teams.
Ursuline (5-0) led 14-11 after one quarter but, behind Davidson's scoring, went ahead 32-24 at the break.
Sophomore Tyra Grant led the Irish with 19 points and junior forward Cierra Bennett had a season-high 13 points and eight rebounds.
Ursuline held a 31-16 rebounding lead and made 4 of 6 3-pointers, all by Davidson.
Lolly Hmiel scored 16 points for the Polar Bears (5-1) who were just 1-for-12 from 3-point range.
Canfield 48, Struthers 35
STRUTHERS -- Emily Wollet, Corey Hoffman and Stephanie Zunic scored 14, 13 and 10 points respectively as the Canfield High School girl's basketball team used a balanced attack in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
The Wildcats (1-5, 0-2) jumped out to a 14-10 lead after one quarter but a 12-point second quarter put the Cardinals (5-1, 2-0) up 22-18 at the break.
Holly Hickenbottom and Allison Ginnetti each scored 11 points for the Wildcats.
McDonald 54, Bristol 44
MCDONALD -- Ashleigh Tondo scored 20 points and had eight assists as the Blue Devils evened their record and handed Bristol its first loss.
Tondo scored 10 points in the first quarter as McDonald (3-3) jumped out to a 21-8 lead. Michelle Krumpak added seven of her 11 points in the first period for the Blue Devils.
Amy Dolsak finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds for McDonald.
Megan Bellino led Bristol (3-1) with 15 points and Jennifer White added 10.
Mathews 42, Badger 39
KINSMAN -- Tara Ford, a 5-foot-6 junior guard, scored the last five points of the game on a goal and three foul shots to rally Mathews past Badger.
Ford finished with 20 points, including nine in the opening to spark Mathews (2-2) to a 15-13 lead.
Christine Miller had 15 points and Samantha Bonar 11 to pace Badger (2-5).
West Branch 86, Canton South 41
BELOIT -- West Branch senior guard Ashley Armstrong tied a school record with 34 points, to go along with 11 assists and five steals in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Emily Zura also scored 21 for the Warriors in 2001.
Tori Arndt added 21 points and four steals, while Evelyn Woods had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors (6-0, 4-0).
