Carr leads Mohawk to 48-39 win over Lancers
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Shawn Carr, a 6-foot senior guard, collected 22 points and 10 rebounds Tuesday to help the Mohawk High boys basketball team turn back Neshannock, 48-39.
Carr scored eight points in the first quarter when Mohawk (7-2, 1-2) took a 13-12 lead and he scored eight more in the fourth quarter after his team led 30-24 after 24 minutes of play.
Bobby Preston collected 17 points and six rebounds to lead the Lancers (7-3, 1-2).
Farrell 72, Shenango 66
FARRELL, Pa. -- Clarence Clay, a 6-foot-3 senior, poured in 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Steelers.
Kellen Newby added 19 points and Dominque Blackwell added 16 more.
Shenango (6-4, 1-2) got a double-double from Steve McNees (21 points, 10 assists), while Phil Thompson and Sean DeJohn each had 12 points.
Laurel 51, Riverside 29
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Mike Burkett had 26 points to lead the Spartans (8-1) to their third straight WPIAL Class AA Section 2 victory. Corey Collins added 11 points.
For Riverside, Jimmy Morgan had nine points.
