Vocal Group Hall of Fame
The Vocal Group Hall of Fame & amp; Museum in Sharon is planing a series of events beginning in February.
Feb. 5: The Lettermen perform a benefit concert at Sharon High School. The concert will be preceded by an auction at the hall at 98 E. State St., Sharon, of signed shoes used by inducted artists to put their footprints in cement in front of the Columbia Theatre. The concert will be followed by a "Meet and Greet" party at the hall with The Lettermen.
Feb. 14: A Valentine's Day dinner and dance at the hall.
February: Announcement of the nominees for the class of 2004 inductees. The public can vote for favorite nominated groups either through the hall Web site or through ballots available in Goldmine magazine. The announcement date is not certain.
Spring 2004: Launch of a monthly "American Idol"-style talent show at the hall for local vocal groups at the hall. Competitions will be the first Saturday of each month. Saturday winners will then compete to participate in a "Local Talent Supports the VGHF" show that will be recorded live for sale.
Benefit concerts: The hall is looking at spring dates for additional benefit concerts, featuring inducted artists at Grove City College, Thiel College and Penn State Shenango, as well as Entertainment USA in Portage County, Ohio.
