KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) -- Toy retailer FAO Inc. has announced a partnership with Borders and Walden Book Co. under which the companies plan to offer collections of each other's products in their stores.
Buyers for the bookstores' parent company, Borders Group Inc., will recommend books, music and video products to be made available in all FAO Schwarz, Zany Brainy and The Right Start stores, FAO said.
The two companies will also test having FAO-operated collections in Borders and Waldenbooks stores offering Zany Brainy and FAO Schwarz toys, and educational and developmental products.
"The first test installations will take place this fall with up to 25 collections at Borders stores and up to 12 at Waldenbooks stores," FAO Inc. said in a news release.
FAO Inc. president and chief executive officer Jerry R. Welch said the company believes Borders "will help us create a world-class assortment of children's books, music and video for our stores."
"We look forward to working together to help children experience the joy of reading as well as the fun and enrichment of music and movies," Borders Group Chief Executive Officer Greg Josefowicz said.
