Nutrition program
Humility of Mary Health Partners' October Women in Touch program will feature "Nutrition for Women -- An Investment in You from Start to Finish." Bridget Lackey, clinical dietitian specialist at HMHP, is the featured speaker. The program begins at 5 p.m. Oct. 1 at Vernon's Caf & eacute; in Niles, and Oct. 16 at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman.
The cost of the program, open to the public, is $15 and includes a buffet dinner. Checks should be made payable to Humility of Mary Health Partners and mailed, along with name, address, daytime phone, date of birth and the program desired to: Women in Touch, Community Health Education, St. Elizabeth Health Center, 1044 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44501.

Scholarship winners
CANFIELD -- The American Cancer Society, Ohio Division, has awarded $1,000 scholarships to three students in Mahoning and Columbiana counties. The recipients were diagnosed with cancer before age 21, younger than 25 at the time of application, and plan to attend an accredited university or community college. They are: an anonymous recipient from Boardman; Thomas Kurtz Jr. of Poland; and Megan Rose of Lisbon.
Slim Down classes offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- St. Elizabeth Health Center is offering new sessions of its six-week Slim Down classes Sept. 2 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at HM Health Care, 5211 Mahoning Ave., Austintown; Sept. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Humility of Mary Health Partners Business Development Office, 4964 Belmont Ave., Youngstown; and Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at The Assumption Village, 9800 Market St., North Lima. D & amp;E accreditation
YOUNGSTOWN -- D & amp;E Counseling Center, a nonprofit community mental health center that provides services to children and adolescents in the Mahoning Valley, has received accreditation from the Council on Accreditation for Children and Families.
Parents need them
A recent Synovate survey, conducted on behalf of Huggies diapers, showed that disposable diapers have become a convenience most parents can't live without.
According to the survey, 93 percent of parents said disposable diapers are indispensable. Next in line on parents' must-have lists were diaper wipes (89 percent), sippy cups (85 percent), microwave ovens (74 percent) and digital thermometers (72 percent).
