The Hubbard location remains in operation.
CORTLAND -- People requiring physical therapy have another option for their care.
Action Physical Therapy and Rehab Inc. has opened at 168 S. High St.
Cousins Joe Eschman of Johnston and Bob Murphy of Hubbard opened the facility.
The facility's Hubbard location, owned by Murphy and Mike Lacey, remains in operation.
"We looked at the demographics in Cortland and it looked like a good market and so far, we've been doing well here," Eschman said.
Mona Massucci is a physical therapy assistant at the Cortland facility.
The facility provides physical and occupational therapy for all age groups, including the elderly, those recovering from surgery and people who suffered a sports or work-related injury.
Geriatrics specialization
Eschman, who is board-certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, specializes in geriatrics. He previously worked in nursing homes and did some home health care.
"When I was working in the nursing homes I would be working with patients and think, 'I wish I had seen this person five or 10 years ago,'" he said.
At Action, he's starting to see people who can benefit from the therapy.
People suffering from arthritis, those who fall or develop balance difficulties, women at risk for osteoporosis and men at risk for cardiovascular disease are some of those who can benefit.
The facility also offers fitness assessments to help people determine if they're at risk.
"We can help them to combat their risk of heart disease or help women combat their risk of osteoporosis," Eschman said.
